Taylor County VINE Record Coverage
VINE means Victim Information and Notification Everyday. WVDCR has used the service statewide for its custody information and automatic notice channels. That makes the service relevant to a Taylor County arrest held at Tygart Valley Regional Jail and Correctional Facility and to a state prisoner housed at Pruntytown Correctional Center and Jail or another WVDCR prison. Coverage still depends on the participating agency and the person’s actual record.
The two Taylor paths must stay distinct. TVRJCF is a state-operated regional jail outside Taylor County that serves local arrests. PCCJ is a state correctional center inside Taylor County. A person may move from a regional-jail record to the state-prison system after sentencing. Search a Taylor County VINE Record

An “out” label at one facility does not always mean community freedom. A transfer can end the first facility stay while custody continues elsewhere. The WVDCR release or movement record identifies the method and destination category, while the Taylor court record can show the bond, dismissal, time-served, sentencing, or other authority. VINE serves as a quick notice and corroborating source.
Register Taylor County VINE Alerts
Open the correct person record before choosing “Get Notified” or the current registration control. An account or sign-in may be required. Available national methods include telephone, text, email, in-app notice, and TTY, but the West Virginia record determines which options and events can actually be selected. Two methods can reduce the chance that a changed number, full mailbox, or missed call hides an update.
- Select the custody or status event offered for the matched record, such as a release or transfer notice.
- Choose the available phone, text, email, in-app, or TTY channel and enter the contact details accurately.
- For telephone calls, create a memorable four-digit PIN. The PIN acknowledges the call and stops repeat attempts.
- Finish the confirmation steps shown by the portal. Email itself does not use the telephone-call PIN.
- Update registration when contact information changes, and save the agency and event text when an alert arrives.
National guidance says an unanswered telephone call may leave a message and retry for at least 24 hours or until the PIN is entered. Keep the PIN private but accessible to the registered recipient. Taylor Release Notice Has Two Layers
Ordinary VINE registration is not the only West Virginia notice path. WVDCR explains that a statutory written request for release or parole-hearing notice must be sent to both WVDCR and the independent West Virginia Parole Board. They are separate entities with different roles. A written request to WVDCR also registers the victim in VINE, but a portal subscription should not be assumed to replace every written step under the statute.

The Parole Board decides parole. WVDCR Parole Services supervises a person after a parole release. VINE can report movements, hearings, or discharges when the record supports them, but a parole eligibility date or grant is not the same as the actual release event. Follow the current official written instructions when formal notice rights apply.
Note: West Virginia VINE registration and a statutory written notice request are related channels, but they are not interchangeable procedures.
Taylor County VINE Limits
VINE accuracy, completeness, and timing depend on source data. A transfer notice may arrive after the person reaches the next facility for safety reasons. A status update can also lag the court’s order or physical processing. Keep the alert text, agency, and time, then seek the underlying WVDCR event record. Do not infer the cause of release from the notification alone.
VINE does not replace the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator, ICE Online Detainee Locator, or U.S. Marshals route. A federal sentence is checked with BOP. A suspected immigration handoff is checked through ICE. No federal prison or ICE detention center was identified inside Taylor County, so these are exception paths used only when case or transfer facts point there.
The West Virginia State Police Sex Offender Registry is also separate. It applies only when a person has a statutory registration duty. It is not a general list of Taylor County releases, and its absence does not establish whether a person left TVRJCF or PCCJ.

Read Taylor VINE Events Precisely
Custody terms describe different events. A release can follow bond, court order, time served, parole, sentence completion, or another authority. A transfer ends one location’s stay but continues custody. Parole moves a state prisoner into supervised community status. Discharge may occur later, when the custodial sentence or supervision shown in the record ends.

If a source conflicts with the alert, preserve both timestamps and ask WVDCR for the event record that reconciles them. Uncertainty should remain visible until the evidence resolves it.
Keep contact details current after registration. A valid alert setup cannot reach a closed email account or an old phone number. Review the matched agency when VINE changes the available event choices, and do not move a registration to another record without repeating the identity check.
